Travelling art workshops and a dedicated digital gallery.

About the project
We believe that everyone should have access to art and to spaces for expression. Through art we can come closer and understand one another better, beyond the barriers that separate us.
That is where the idea for Pas Cultural came from: an art programme run over three months in three social centres in Cluj-Napoca, where people with intellectual disabilities take part in well-being and art-expression workshops, in a space where they can explore and assert their own artistic inclinations.
What is more, with this project we decided to go one step further. The works made are documented, selected and published in an online gallery dedicated to artists facing marginalisation, giving them public visibility and recognition. In this way, the project combines direct work with art and the development of an accessible digital platform, creating a space for the empowerment, representation and valuing of people from vulnerable groups.
In short, the project creates the conditions for exploring one’s creative side, for growing confident in one’s own artistic abilities, and for under-represented people to take part in cultural life.
Culture is made by those who have access to spaces for expression.
What we did in the project
- Workshops in social centresSeries of workshops on well-being and expression through art, giving participants a safe setting in which to create and to grow confident in their own abilities.
- An online gallery, and visibilityWe went one step further: the works made were documented, selected and published in a digital gallery dedicated to artists from vulnerable backgrounds.
- Empowerment and representationThe project combined direct work with art and the creation of an accessible digital platform, giving each maker’s work public visibility and recognition.

What remains
Beyond the numbers, what made us happiest was the change felt inside the centres. The social workers told us that the atmosphere had changed visibly, and the participants always look forward to us coming back to create together.
- 3 partner social centres
- Almost 50 participants
- An active digital platform for artists
The project is funded through the Start ONG programme, launched by Kaufland Romania and implemented by the Act for Tomorrow Association.
